Mideast Report

Though the Internet is banned in Iraq, that hasn't stopped Saddam Hussein from creating the Mother of All Home Pages.

It was posted on the World Wide Web to mark his 60th birthday, Reuters reported.

But since no Iraqi is wired to the Web, Hussein's Web site can only be accessed or be e-mailed via neighboring Jordan, which is on the Net.

According to Reuters, e-mail will be sent from Jordan via automobile to Baghdad and to Saddam.

Those wishing to send Saddam a note can find him at: http://196.27.0.22/iraq

Israel hits Hezbollah after soldier is killed

JERUSALEM (JTA) — Israeli forces this week arrested three Hezbollah members during operations in southern Lebanon.

Israeli fighter planes rocketed terrorist targets in the security zone on Sunday. The pilots reported hits, but there were no immediate reports of casualties.

The actions came after an Israeli officer, Lt. Yuval Nir, 22, of Rehovot, was killed Friday of last week during a Hezbollah mortar attack just north of the Israeli border.

Nir was leading a patrol from a mission in the security zone back to an army outpost near the border when Hezbollah fighters opened fire.
