Two emergency community gatherings will take place Thursday evening, Jan. 8 to express solidarity with Israel during the Gaza crisis. Gatherings will include prayers for peace, a briefing on the Gaza situation and information about ways to support Israel.

In San Francisco, a solidarity gathering will begin 5:30 p.m. at Congregation Sherith Israel, 2266 California St. At 6:30 p.m., workshops offered by the Jewish Study Network and Jewish Community High School of the Bay will address the power of prayer in an emergency, and other topics. On the Peninsula, a gathering will begin 7:30 p.m. at Congregation Beth Am, 26792 Arastradero Road in Los Altos Hills. For more information, contact [email protected].

The gatherings are sponsored by the Jewish Community Relations Council and S.F.-based Jewish Community Federation. Co-sponsors include AIPAC, BlueStarPR and the Board of Rabbis of Northern California.
