Barak is "distributing sweets to the public," said Knesset member Uzi Landau, a former Likud chairman of the Knesset Defense and Foreign Affairs committee.

Appearing before members of the Knesset's subcommittee on defense expenditure and top IDF commanders and economists, Barak said a peace treaty with Syria and Lebanon would demand a reassessment by the IDF of its deployment and allow a reduction in service time.
