The show premieres 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, on most PBS stations. A CD of the concert is already available. Artists featured in the concert special and CD include: the Klezmatics, Craig Taubman, Dave Koz, Cantor Alberto Mizrahi, Rabbi David Wolpe, Michelle Citrin, Joshua Nelson, actress Mare Winningham and former Wings guitarist Laurence Juber. Immigrant stories come to life in play Firebird Dance Theater will perform “Simcha … A Celebration of Life” Dec. 7 at the Campbell Heritage Theater, 1 W. Campbell Ave. A dance performance about Jewish American history, “Simcha” was inspired by the stories of Sholom Aleichem, with song and dance that begins in the shtetls of Eastern Europe and ends in the United States. A portion of all proceeds will be donated to the Ben Yakir Youth Village in Israel, which works with at-risk children. Latke bar, wine and surf music at party Judd’s Hill is putting on its second annual “Hanukkah Hootenanny” Dec. 7 in Napa. The party will feature Jewish surf music courtesy of Meshugga Beach Party, a latke bar with a variety of toppings and plenty of wines. In addition, there will be barbecued beef brisket and other Jewish-barbecue food pairings. Judd’s Hill Winery is at 2332 Silverado Trail, Napa. The event is free for Judd’s Hill wine club members, $40 for non-members. Some of the proceeds will benefit Fair Housing Napa Valley. The performances take place at Davies Symphony Hall on Dec. 7 and 8. The Chachkas will be featured soloists, performing an orchestrated version of the song “Little Gouda,” written by Chachkas founder and violinist Julie Egger. The band will also perform Chanukah songs and accompany guest conductor Randall Fleisher with the telling of the Chanukah story.
