Registration open for food conference

Registration has begun for the 2009 Hazon Food Conference, which for the second year will be held at Asilomar Conference Center in Pacific Grove. The dates are Dec. 24 to 27.

The food conference brings together chefs, farmers, activists, rabbis, vegans and omnivores from around the world together to focus on a “new Jewish food movement” that integrates Jewish culture and tradition with organic, local, sustainable and seasonal foods and agriculture.

There will be workshops, expert cooking sessions, panels, family activities, lectures and discussions. Topics will include Jewish food education, food justice, sustainable food systems, health and nutrition, Israeli agriculture, and Jewish traditions and food.

Hazon, which means “vision” in Hebrew, is a national organization working to create healthier and more sustainable communities through food and Jewish culture.
