S.F. philanthropy helps select top groups

European Jewish culture is undergoing a renaissance; now, many of the groups contributing to the surge are being recognized. The Westbury Group, an informal network of Jewish philanthropies that includes the S.F.-based Taube Foundation for Jewish Life, recently released Compass, a guide showcasing 36 European Jewish organizations and their contributions to modern European Jewish culture.

Selections range from festivals and community centers to social action programs. An electronic copy of Compass can be found at www.compasseurope.org.
