Jerusalem woman leaves 1,400 descendants

Rachel Krishevsky of Jerusalem passed away at the age of 99 last month, leaving behind at least 1,400 descendants, according to news reports from Israel.

Krishevsky, who died Sept. 12, had 11 children, who in turn had 150 children, leading to hundreds of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Krishevsky lived most of her life next to Jerusalem’s Mahane Yehuda market. A grandchild said she “knew all her descendants.”

Due to their great numbers, the family is not quite clear on precisely how many descendents there are. “The estimate in the family is that we are about 1,400 people since almost all of those from the family line were blessed with many children,” one grandchild said. — jta &
