Nearly 600 people celebrated the rededication Aug. 29 of Congregation Kol Shofar in Tiburon.

The event — which drew not only congregation members, but local residents and elected officials — marked the reopening of the newly remodeled Conservative synagogue. There were tours of the building and religious school, kosher cooking demonstrations, live music and children’s activities.

The festivities began with a “Returning of the Torahs” procession the evening of Aug. 27. The walk began at Westminster Presbyterian Church, which hosted services while the remodel took place.
