William Kellman William “Bill” Kellman was born May 14, 1921 in Detroit, Michigan and passed away peacefully on August 25, 2010 in his home in Saratoga, surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Jane, who passed away November 10, 2008. Bill is survived by his loving children Jeff, of Los Altos Hills and Donna, of Saratoga as well as his devoted daughter-in-law and son-in-law, Adele Kellman and Rick Kermin. Bill will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Rachel, Lisa and Mark Kellman of Los Altos Hills and Matthew Kermin of Saratoga. Bill led a full, productive and happy life. He and Jane met freshman year of college at Wayne State University in Detroit. After graduation, they did their post-graduate work at University of Michigan. Bill served in the US Army in World War II. After the war, he taught high school art and sculpture before opening his retail stores. He had a menswear store in Detroit then owned two children’s clothing stores in Detroit. When Bill and Jane moved to California in 1960, Bill opened his first of five children’s clothing stores in Town and Country Village in San Jose called The Young Set. Bill eventually opened The Young Set in Menlo Park, Mountain View, Cupertino and Los Altos. Bill retired from his business in 1999. Through the years, Bill and Jane loved to travel, especially to Europe, so among other things, they could enjoy the many art museums there. Bill’s passion for art led to his life-long hobby of painting and drawing. He had an immense passion for music, mainly classical and jazz, and had a great fondness of learning and education. Bill was a former president of a San Jose Rotary Chapter and spent many years involved with Saratoga Rotary Club. Bill had many friends he loved and much extended family he treasured.
