Ishmael Khaldi, the former deputy consul general of Israel for the Pacific North-west region, will return to San Francisco for a speaking engagement at the Common-wealth Club. The event takes place at 6 p.m. Oct. 7. A Muslim and Bedouin Arab, Khaldi served with Israel’s foreign service for several years, most notably in the Bay Area. In 2008 he returned to Israel, where he wrote a memoir, “A Shepherd’s Journey,” which was published five months ago. He will discuss the book and sign copies following the lecture.
