Reaching out to Peninsula kids with special needs, the Friendship Circle recruits teen volunteers to serve as mentors, organizes play-dates and holds monthly programs where kids, professionals and volunteers get together to give parents respite time. Sponsored by Chabad of Greater South Bay, the program serves 25 families at no charge, with 65 teens volunteering. The next monthly Children’s Circle, with the theme of “Ahavat Israel,” takes place from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, May 23, at the Community Center of Mitchell Park, 3800 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto.
