With the recent successful reopening of San Francisco’s de Young Museum, some of the credit goes to generous donations from prominent Bay Area Jewish philanthropists and foundations.
With a $5 million gift from the Helen Diller Family Foundation, the museum’s entry court has been named the Helen Diller Family Courtyard. The 1,100-square-foot court features a permanent installation by English artist Andy Goldsworthy.
The Koret Foundation’s $4.25 million gift resulted in the new Koret Auditorium. Said Koret spokesperson Susan Wolfe, “One of our objectives is to strengthen the Bay Area community, to enhance the quality of life in our own backyard.”
Other major donors to the new de Young Fund include Al Baum; the Fisher Family; the Fleishhacker Foundation; the Lisa and Douglas Goldman Fund; Richard N. Goldman; the Walter and Elise Haas Fund; the Evelyn and Walter Haas, Jr. Fund; Mimi and Peter Haas; the Halperin Family; the Hellman Family; Bernard and Barbro Osher and the Shorenstein Family.
