Make Father’s Day art at the CJM
If you’re scrambling to find last-minute Father’s Day plans, drop by the Contemporary Jewish Museum on Sunday, June 21 for a family art-making program.
The program, “Drop-In Art-Making: To You, From Me,” allows families to spend time together bonding over different mediums of art. Located in the Sala Webb Education Center inside the museum, the program offers new materials and techniques to facilitate hands-on art projects.
The special Father’s Day program will let kids create collages, mementos and photographs with their dads.
“Drop-In Art-Making” runs every Sunday at the museum from 1-3 p.m. and welcomes families with children of all ages. It is free with the price of admission to the museum. The Contemporary Jewish Museum is located at 736 Mission St. For more information, call (415) 665-7800 or e-mail [email protected].
Parents Place has music, cooking classes
Little musicians and chefs can eat (or drum) their hearts out with classes at Parents Place, a program of S.F.-based Jewish Family and Children’s Services.
Starting July 8, the “Music! Music! Music!” class will let children age 6 to 24 months groove with instruments, dancing ribbons, parachutes, puppets and bubbles. The class will run for four consecutive Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to noon, and costs $80 for all four sessions.
“Little Chefs,” a cooking class for 2- to 4-year-olds, will teach children how to make a variety of delectable vegetarian dishes, including couscous and lavash sandwiches. It starts Friday, June 19, and subsequent sessions will be June 26 and July 10. The class will be from noon to 1 p.m. and costs $75 for the three sessions, including food and supplies.
Both classes will be in San Francisco. For more information, contact Parents Place at (415) 359-2455 or www.parents placeonline.org.
