The S.F.-based Taube Foundation for Jewish Life and Culture has officially opened the Taube Center for the Renewal of Jewish Life in Poland. American-born scholar Helise Lieberman has been named director of the center.
Headquartered at the Emanuel Ringelbaum Jewish Historical Institute in Warsaw, the center will focus on supporting Jewish life in Poland through education and cultural experience.
A native of Illinois, Lieberman graduated from Brandeis University and later moved to Poland, where she founded the country’s first new Jewish day school in decades.
