The Jewish Community Center of the East Bay will hold a “Be The Match” event to help find a bone marrow match for Elissa Froman, a 26-year-old prospective rabbinical student living in Washington, D.C.

The event takes place from 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, at the JCC, 1414 Walnut St., Berkeley. Participants will undergo a cheek-swab and fill out a consent form. All tissue types will be added to the Be a Match national registry.

Froman was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma after graduating from college, though the disease later went into remission. She recently fulfilled a life-long dream when she was accepted to rabbinical school. But two days later, Froman learned the cancer had returned.
