San Francisco has long been the place where new things happened. Sherith Israel was founded during the  California Gold Rush and has been part of San Francisco every step of the way, marrying the newest innovations to thousands of years of Jewish history.  Leaders and staff are constantly working to create a relevant community for meaningful Jewish exploration.

New to town, new to Judaism, or just new? Visit, tour the building, attend an event for young families or join a Friday night service. Whatever one’s background, identity or level of knowledge, all are welcome who seek community and Jewish learning, regardless of age, gender, race or financial ability.
