Now there’s a new auction site that allows you to bid on desirable items while raising money for a reputable Jewish agency at the same time. The S.F.-based Jewish Family and Children’s Services has started its own auction Web site with donated items and services ranging from fashion, jewelry, restaurants and spas, with all proceeds benefiting JFCS. The site also showcases the work of local artists, who are donating their work. Auctions run from the beginning to the end of the month. To visit the site, go to www.jfcs.org/auction. AIPAC honors four U.C. Berkeley student activists The American Israel Public Affairs Committee, the pro-Israel lobby, presented a quartet of U.C. Berkeley Jewish students with its national award for campus activists last month in Washington, D.C. Rebecca Simon, Jesse Gabriel, Robby Kaufman and Daniel Frankenstein were presented with the Duke Rudman Annual Leadership Award, a nod to their consistent pro-Israel activism on U.C. Berkeley’s none-too-consistently pro-Israel campus. The students were recognized for working with U.C. administrators to ensure campus safety for Jewish and pro-Israel students, organizing on-campus forums about Israel, registering more than 500 pro-Israel voters and leading student delegations to lobby at five congressional district offices. Eldercare fair to offer resources at CCJCC The Contra Costa Jewish Community Center will host a free resource fair for the children and caregivers of older adults from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 6, at 2071 Tice Valley Blvd., Walnut Creek. The event features a talk on legal issues related to Medicare and Medi-Cal by Judy Apfel, California Association for Nursing Home Reform; a discussion on placement options with Ada Burko, MSW, older adult services director at Jewish Families and Children’s Services of the East Bay; and Elaine Zolfarelli, MSW, director of social services at the Reutlinger Community for Jewish Living in Danville. In addition, Lillian Roselin, director of the Millman Respite Center at the CCJCC, will talk about adult day programs.
