The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles has named Jay Sanderson as its new chief executive. Sanderson, 52, takes over the post from John Fishel, who served 17 years as the federation president and resigned in January, effective Dec. 31.

Sanderson is the CEO and executive producer of the Jewish Television Network, a nonprofit producer and distributor of Jewish-themed television programming.

Sanderson, who lives in Encino, was one of four final candidates for the job. The others were former L.A. City Councilman Jack Weiss, former William Morris COO Irv Weintraub and Joshua Fogelson, executive director of the Minneapolis Jewish Federation. — l.a. jewish journal
