Sunnyvale-based Yahoo has reunited Jerusalem on its weather application for the iPhone.
At the end of May, the preinstalled application switched from Jerusalem to a choice between “West Jerusalem, Israel” and “East Jerusalem, West Bank.” The app’s weather pages online also had offered two choices: Jerusalem, Yerushalayim, under the heading IL, the postal designation for Israel; and Jerusalem, West Bank, under the heading PS, used to identify the Palestinian Authority.
A recent search on the iPhone for east Jerusalem returned no results, according to Honest Reporting, which had urged its subscribers to complain to Yahoo.
A recent search for east Jerusalem on the Yahoo weather pages online yielded this response: “We do not have weather for ‘East Jerusalem’ currently.”
Weather for Jerusalem can be found at Jerusalem, Yerushalayim. The page informs searchers that the information comes from the nearest weather station in Jerusalem, Israel. — jta
