Surfin’ nagila
With summer beginning to wind down, why not take advantage of one last opportunity for a beach party? Meshugga Beach Party, a high-energy band that mixes Jewish melodies with the harmonies of beach music, will perform in an unexpected place: downtown Oakland’s City Center. The band — clad in black hats, full beards and tallits — will put on its surfer shtick as part of a series of free summer concerts. So come on down and groove to some souped-up Jewish melodies.
