Robert H. Ross passed away peacefully June 7, 2017 at home in Las Vegas at the age of 88. He is survived by his wife Kathryn, son Steven, daughter Vicky of San Francisco, daughter-in-law Carolina Ross, grandsons Barney and Lucas (Julee) and great-grandsons Logan, Drake, & Carter. Preceded in death by parents Rea and Harry Ross, brother Mort (Sylvia), son Michael and former wife Sylvia Heilbrun. After serving in the Army, Bob moved from Chicago to San Francisco in 1953. In 1964 he began a career in Retail Store Employees Union, Local 410R as a business manager. Subsequently he became president in 1970 until his retirement in 1984. Bob always advocated for the dignity and rights of all people. In retirement, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends along with travel and a good game of bridge. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.  Funeral services were held.


Educator Delphine Hedlund Silverman (1931-2017) passed away peacefully on May 21 surrounded by family. First, she was a vocational counselor (and California association president of 1967), then a guidance counselor with the San Mateo Union High School District at Crestmoor and Aragon High Schools. After retiring in the 1990s, she continued to work part time as a social worker with Avenidas Senior Center in Palo Alto. She got her real estate license, and in the 1990s she began a successful web-based home exchange business called the Jewish Travel Network, written up in the Jewish Bulletin in 1997. She was a member of Temple Beth Jacob, Redwood City. In the 2000s, she became President of a League of Women Voters chapter in San Mateo. A Celebration of Life will be held sometime in late August in Palo Alto. For information, please email [email protected].
