The S.F.-based Jewish Community Federation is holding its second annual Day of Volunteering at several locations in San Francisco on Sunday, Aug. 5. The event, known as DOVsf, is open to anyone over the age of 18, but is aimed at young adults.
Volunteers will be working at one of seven different sites, two more than last year. Among other things, they will be gardening at Alemany Farm in Bernal Heights, sorting food at the San Francisco Food Bank in Portrero Hill and cleaning the beach with the Surfrider Foundation at Ocean Beach.
As of last week, approximately 100 people had signed up, with another 50 expected to sign up this week, according to Emily Whitehead, assistant director of the Young Adult Division at the federation. Last year, there were about 100 volunteers, she added.
The deadline to formally register is noon on Friday, Aug. 3, but late-applicants can apply by email to Whitehead at [email protected]. For more information or to sign up, visit www.jewishfed.org.
