“Khrustalyov, My Car!”

In 1953, dying Soviet dictator Josef Stalin orchestrated one final offense against his people, the infamous “Doctor’s Plot” — the imprisonment and murder of a group of Moscow doctors, many of whom were Jewish.  Alexei Guerman’s 1998 film “Khrustalyov, My Car!” follows a military doctor during this time through the frenzy and fear of the purge. U.C. Berkeley’s Pacific Film Archive will screen the film on Aug. 18.

6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18 at Pacific Film Archive Theater, 2575 Bancroft Way, Berkeley. $5.50-$9.50. www.bampfa.berkeley.edu.
