Having issues with your child over homework? Worried about their social activities? Wondering how to foster healthy values?
Congregation Beth Emek is hosting a panel discussion titled “From preschool to college — how parents can stay on the right track” that aims to help parents “find a balance between the gentle push and the demanding shove.” Free and open to the public, it will take place from 10:15 a.m. to noon on Jan. 27 in the CBE sanctuary, 3400 Nevada Court, Pleasanton.
Rabbi David Katz will moderate a panel of local experts who will offer advice about how to cope with stress and how to raise healthy kids while embracing Jewish values.
Panelists are:
Dr. Joss Flanzbaum, a pediatrician with expertise on physical signs and symptoms of stress in children;
Family therapist Linda Fries, who will discuss emotional responses to stress in children and adults;
College counselor Stacey Kadesh, on how to prepare students for college;
Ruben Nieves of Positive Coaching Alliance, on how parents can model and foster sportsmanship.
