Jewish Women International, an organization working to end domestic and sexual violence against women and girls both within and beyond the Jewish community, has started its 15th annual Mother’s Day Flower Project.

Locally, the project will provide flowers and baskets of beauty supplies to the Asian Women’s Shelter in San Francisco, the Center for Domestic Peace, home of Marin Abused Women’s Services in San Rafael and WEAVE Inc. in Sacramento on Mother’s Day, May 12.

In all, approximately 6,500 women and children at 200 shelters across the country will receive bouquets and gift baskets.

To raise funds for the project, Washington, D.C.–based JWI is selling Mother’s Day cards for $25 each at www.jwi.org/fp or by phone at (800) 343-2823. Each card (either paper or electronic) will be sent to the person of the purchaser’s choice. Cards must be ordered by May 3 to arrive in time for Mother’s Day.

The funds raised through the Flower Project also sustain JWI’s programs, advocacy and educational initiatives.
