The Jewish Home of San Francisco announced last week that it will be a beneficiary of a new law signed by Gov. Jerry Brown on Oct. 8.
Senate Bill 239 restored Medi-Cal reimbursement rates for all distinct part skilled nursing facilities (DP/SNF), such as the Jewish Home, as of Oct. 1.
The Jewish Home faced financial uncertainty with the 2011 passage of Assembly Bill 97, which slashed Medi-Cal reimbursement rates to institutions by more than 25 percent. “These cuts threatened the ongoing existence of the Jewish Home,” last week’s press release noted, adding, “its operating deficit would have increased by over $1 million a month.”
The press release noted that the Jewish Home is the largest private DP/SNF in California, and also commended state Sen. Mark Leno for his advocacy for the Jewish Home and “for our state’s most frail and vulnerable population.”
