Palm readers, reptiles, cocktails and live music are coming to the JCC of San Francisco for “Saturdays Unplugged,” an oneg Shabbat series. The events take place from 3 to 6 p.m. on July 12 and 26.
The July 12 event will feature a family show by Hot Buttered Rum, a Northern California band. Before the performance, Emily Bonn will lead a ukulele jam session.
On July 26, local musicians Isaac Zones and Melita Silberstein will perform, and Jeni Swerdlow of Drummm will lead a drumming workshop before the performance.
Both afternoons will feature yoga, cooking workshops, story time, board games, chess club, mandala-making and other activities. The East Bay Vivarium will bring reptiles and spiders, inviting those who dare to handle them. Adults can enjoy complimentary cocktail-making and beer or wine tasting. The JCCSF’s café, Community Table, will have happy-hour specials for purchase. Each program will culminate in a sing-along Havdallah service.
Oneg Shabbats are free at the JCCSF, 3200 California St. For more information, go to www.jccsf.org/all-ages/oneg-shabbat.
