Two Bay Area Jewish institutions will receive sizable grants from the San Francisco–based Jim Joseph Foundation, which announced $5 million in new donations at its recent fall 2014 board meeting.
The Contemporary Jewish Museum in San Francisco was awarded $1.2 million to support cultural programs designed to engage Bay Area youth and young adults, and to educate curators and Jewish educational practitioners from across the country.
Berkeley-based Kevah received a $750,000 grant to support the nonprofit’s growth. Additional grants went to the American Institutes for Research ($800,000) and the Birthright Israel Foundation ($2.5 million).
Founded in 1987, the Jim Joseph Foundation emphasizes support for effective Jewish learning experiences for youth and young adults.
