The Jewish Public Affairs Committee of California is seeking volunteers for JPAC Advocacy Day, which will take place May 11-12 at the state Capitol. Participants will meet with legislators to lobby them on bills and discuss issues of concern to the Jewish community.

New this year is a program run by the S.F.-based Jewish Community Relations Council, JPAC’s partner for Advocacy Day. “JCRC Advocacy 101” will take place from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 23 at 121 Steuart St., S.F. It will include a government relations overview and practical tips. To sign up, email [email protected] or call (415) 977-7418.

JPAC’s lineup of issues this year includes social service budgets, restoring cuts to safety-net programs, the Preschool for All Act, food justice and the climate on college campuses.

JCRC will organize carpools to Sacramento, and hotel rooms are available. A reception with legislators and a no-host dinner with the state Legislature’s Jewish caucus are scheduled for May 11. Cost is $95 for all events; $85 for the May 12 advocacy program only; and $40 for students. To sign up, visit www.tinyurl.com/jpac-2015.
