Ali “Al” Yeganeh, who was the inspiration for the “Soup Nazi” character on “Seinfeld,” will visit Israel this month to participate in a street food festival, to be held across the country.
“The Soup Nazi,” an episode that aired in November 1995 during the seventh season of the popular TV sitcom, focused on the iron-fisted owner of a popular soup stand who gets nicknamed the “Soup Nazi” for his strict system for ordering and his practice of throwing customers out of the shop who deviate from the rules. “No soup for you!” he would shout as he banned the customer for life.
Yeganeh’s original restaurant, Soup Kitchen International, became hugely popular following the episode’s success. — ynetnews.com
