Attendees held signs such as “We can get a better deal” and “Stop the Holocaust deal” at a rally in San Francisco’s Civic Center Plaza protesting the Iran nuclear deal. The Aug. 30 gathering drew 400 people, according to one of the main organizers, the Western region of the Zionist Association of America.
The “Stop Iran Rally” was co-sponsored by more than 25 organizations, including many from the Jewish community. The list included the Russian Speaking Jewish Community of San Francisco, Rimon Club Z, the Jewish National Fund, Americans for a Safe Israel, JCC Watch and StandWithUs. ZOA West executive director David Kadosh and Rabbi Shimon Margolin worked together as organizers.
Speakers included political analyst John Rothmann, former state Sen. Quentin Kopp, Jewish National Fund regional executive director Aaron Parker, former federal judge and Hoover fellow Abraham Sofaer, former Israeli soldier Gil Shotan, Kadosh and Margolin.
The rally called on members of Congress to reject the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action and seek a better diplomatic solution.
