Jewish Family and Community Services East Bay
A community-based, direct-service social and human services organization that serves and supports Alameda and Contra Costa County residents of all ages, races, and religions. Its vision is a community where everyone can flourish with dignity.
Since its founding in 1877, JFCS East Bay has existed for one purpose: to serve the community. The agency is one of two refugee resettlement agencies in the East Bay, with deep expertise in resettling Afghan, Ukrainian, and LGBTQ+ refugees. Direct-service staff hold diverse expertise and are culturally responsive; many share the same experiences as the clients and communities they serve.
Guided by Jewish values and in collaboration with the diverse communities served, the agency contributes to the resilience of communities, families and individuals through comprehensive support services at every stage of life. The agency activates networks of volunteers and engages the community in public policy and advocacy initiatives to address the systemic issues that face its clients.
One-third of the Bay Area’s Jewish population lives in the East Bay. While its mission has broadened to serve the whole community, based on the value of being responsible for one another, it remains committed to a set of services specifically for the Jewish community.
