Sharansky, in tent, protests the summit

JERUSALEM (JPS) — Twenty-four hours after submitting his letter of resignation from the Barak government, Interior Minister Natan Sharansky moved into his temporary new office: a protest tent outside Prime Minister Ehud Barak’s residence, where he plans to remain throughout the Camp David Summit.

“The prime minister is off to one of the most fateful discussions over the…future of the state without a government, without a coalition,” Sharansky said in an interview at the tent, which is marked by a sign proclaiming, “The unity of the people [is needed] for peace.”

Web site depicts Barak as Hitler

JERUSALEM (JPS) — Prime Minister Ehud Barak is portrayed as Hitler’s successor on a U.S.-based Internet site, apparently established by Jewish extremists.

The site shows Barak’s face on Hitler’s body, in Nazi uniform, unfurling a Palestinian flag, and saying, “I will finish your work, Mein Fuehrer. I will join Hamas and the PLO to finish the job [of destroying the Jewish people].” The site also reports that Barak is “fulfilling the wishes of all the Jew-haters of history, like Hitler,” and features a “game” in which the user can try to eliminate Barak.
