A Bronx native who has spent the past 67 years in San Francisco, Green says she has her parents to thank for her good health, mental acuity and longevity.

“It’s good genes. What else could it be?” said Green, a great-grandmother of twins. “Let me tell you something; not most, but a good many people these days are living into their 90s. So I don’t feel unique.”

When the staff implored a teary-eyed Green to make a birthday speech, she politely declined, remarking, “There isn’t anything I can think to say — so, I’ll eat. Everybody dig in!”
