Proud parents Mariel and Benjamin Goldenstein joyfully welcomed their second son, Gabriel Chaim Goldenstein, on July 28, 2025, in Castro Valley. He weighed 7 lbs. 6 oz. and measured 20 inches. Big brother Emanuel is overjoyed to have a little brother and is already being so helpful. Grandparents Ronna and Don Honigman of El Cerrito and Mariuca and Pierre Goldenstein of San Francisco, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, are delighted by his arrival.

Ezra Akiva

Frank and Talia Schiff announce the birth of their son, Ezra Akiva, on Aug. 2, 2025, in Oakland. Ezra weighed 8 lbs. 2 oz. and measured 20 inches. Grandparents are Amy and Daniel Schiff of San Jose and grandmother Marina Salzman of Saratoga. Great-grandmothers are Ruth Sporer of Los Gatos and Zina Kharag of San Francisco.

Ezra is named after his paternal great-grandfathers, Alfred Sporer (z”l) and Edward Schiff (z”l). He is loved by his big sister, Maya Simone, his aunts Rachel Schiff, Dana Salzman and Erica Salzman, and his uncle Misha Frankly. In addition, he is blessed with great-uncle Lev Kharag, great-aunts and great-uncles Julie and Stuart Krigel and Eve and Adam Schiff, as well as great-great-aunts Maureen Ellenberg and Judy Sokoll, and great-great-great-uncle Leon Schiff. 

The brit milah was held on Aug. 10 at Beth Jacob Congregation in Oakland. Rabbi Gershon Albert officiated and Dr. Phillip Ross was the mohel. Family and friends were all in attendance to welcome Ezra Akiva into the covenant of the Jewish people.
