SAN FRANCISCO

Tuesday | July 7
Jewish Heritage Night at the San Francisco Giants — Take in a ball game against the Toronto Blue Jays. Ticket includes a Jewish Heritage Night jersey. At Oracle Park, 24 Willie Mays Plaza. 6:45 p.m. $34 and up. 

Thursday | July 16
Opening night of S.F. Jewish Film Festival — The 46th annual San Francisco Jewish Film Festival kicks off with “Tell Me Everything,” a French-Israeli production about a 12-year-old boy dealing with his father’s gay identity in 1980s Tel Aviv. At Herbst Theatre, 401 Van Ness Ave. Film at 6:30 p.m. Followed by opening night party at 9 p.m. Film only, $40 JFI members/$45 general; film and party, $90 members, $100 general. 

NORTH BAY

Friday | July 10
“Shabbat Under the Stars” — Chabad of Sonoma Valley’s annual Shabbat celebration with guest Cantor Chaim Freund of Toronto. Dinner with kosher wine provided. At Krug estate, 2800 Main St., St. Helena. 6:30 p.m. reception, 7 p.m. dinner. $54. 

Saturday | July 11
Wayne Feinstein — Author and former head of the S.F.-based Jewish Federation discusses his novel “Turning.” At Book Passage, 51 Tamal Vista Blvd., Corte Madera. 1 p.m. Free. 

EAST BAY

Friday | July 10 
“Shabliss” — Kabbalat Shabbat service with meditation led by guest Rabbi Brian Yosef Schachter-Brooks with his “Torah of Awakening” framework. Followed by dinner. At Congregation Netivot Shalom, 1316 University Ave., Berkeley. 6-9 p.m. $25, $12.50 children.

Saturday | July 18
“How to Enter a Room and Be of Service” — Rabbi Peretz Wolf-Prusan presents this talk subtitled “A Guide for the Comforter of the Sick and Bereaved.” At Congregation Netivot Shalom, 1316 University Ave., Berkeley. 1:15-2:15 p.m. Free. 

PENINSULA/SOUTH BAY

Monday | July 6
Book Club: “Heart of a Stranger” — Rabbi Laurie Matzkin leads a discussion of Rabbi Angela Buchdahl’s book describing her journey as the first Asian American to be ordained as a rabbi. At Peninsula JCC, 800 Foster City Blvd., Foster City. 10:30 a.m.-noon. Free. 

Wednesday | July 22
