However, Israeli officials told U.S. envoy David Satterfield at a meeting Tuesday the Lebanese are not being honest about their intentions or the infrastructure they have built to divert water.
The message the Israelis gave Satterfield is that although the issue has been off the agenda, Israel is watching with concern what the Lebanese are doing.
Israel has continuously said it does not object to Lebanon diverting some of the Wazzani’s water for local needs. Jerusalem is, however, opposed to Lebanon taking unilateral action, without consulting Israel.
