Paley, Lillian D. In San Mateo, Feb. 3. Age 94. Wife of the late Sidney Paley. Mother of Art (and Jerilyn) Paley. Grandmother of Marc (and Robin) Paley and Nicole Paley. Great-grandmother of Hannah and Benjamin Paley. Aunt of Stewart (and Charlene) Daniels. Great-aunt of Bethany Daniels. Born in New York. Moved to Vilna, Lithuania, with her two brothers, Karl and Louis, at age 2. She was raised by her grandparents. Her mother died during childbirth of her youngest brother. She returned to New York in 1929. Fluent in Polish, Russian, Lithuanian and Yiddish. Learned to speak English when she returned to New York. Moved to San Diego in 1954, where she lived until 1996. Active volunteer at Jewish Community Center in San Diego for 20 years. Moved to Northern California to be close to her son, Art, and other family in 1996.
