Gitin, Rosalie Carl. In San Francisco. April 26, 2005. Beloved wife of Rabbi Joseph Gitin. Loving mother of David Gitin (Eileen) and Judi Elman Harris (Gordon Harris.) Devoted grandmother of Lori Gitin, Mark (Liz) Gitin, Joshua (Kelly) Elman and the late Michael Elman and great-grandmother of Noah Elman and Sylvie, Jacob and Aaron Gitin. Friends were invited to attend a Celebration of Her Life on Friday, April 29 at 2:30 p.m. at Temple Emanu-El of San Jose, 1010 University Ave., San Jose.Interment will be private. Goor, Anne. In Danville, April 11. Age 95. Mother of Barbara (and Sheldon) Rothblatt of Berkeley and Rabbi Joel Goor of New York. Grandmother of Rob Rothblatt, Susan R. Sasson, Karen R. Zilberstein, Richard Goor, Rabbi Donald Goor, Carolyn G. Hutchinson, and Beri Goor and 11 great-grandchildren. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she married Benjamin Goor and moved to Jamaica, NY before relocating to Phoenix, AZ in 1941. Anne and Ben were an integral part of the growth of the Phoenix Jewish Community during and after World War II. Their home was a kosher Shabbat & Passover haven for servicemen stationed at nearby bases. Anne was active in synagogue activities, B’nai B’rith Women and Hadassah, serving as chapter president. She received many awards for her work and contributions to these organizations. In 1990 she moved to Rossmoor to be closer to her daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She joined Netivot Shalom in Berkeley and actively participated in the Diablo Valley Hadassah and the JCC, until she moved to the Reutlinger Community for Jewish Living. Funeral services were held in Phoenix, AZ. Donations can be made to the Anne & Benjamin Goor Memorial Scholarship at the American Technion Society, 870 Market St. #800, San Francisco, CA 94102.

Morof-Lubkin, Ilene Ruth. On April 21, 2005, Ilene, 76, died unexpectedly. Loving mother of four children: Hugh, David, Ira and Robyn. Beloved grandmother of three: Kyle, Ian and Naomi. Other survivors include four brothers: Jack, Jerry, Irvin and Arnold; and former husband, Ben. Her distinguished career in the field of nursing, education and political advocacy included positions as the Assistant Director of Nursing at John Muir Hospital, Director of Medical Services at the Veteran’s Hospital in Martinez, Professor of Nursing at California State University, Hayward, author of Chronic Illness, a text book still used in universities worldwide, and as a proud Democrat, Senior Senator for the State of California. She touched the hearts of thousands, the souls of hundreds and she will be missed so dearly by all who had the privilege to know her. Memorial services were held Thursday, April 28, at 3 p.m. at Rossmoor Creekside Room -Fairway Clubhouse.

Weshler, Leo B. In San Francisco on May 1, 2005 at age 84. Husband of Doris Weshler; father of Peter R. Weschler; grandfather of Benjamin and Joshua Weschler. Leo was a Shanghai refugee and a devoted lover of music, opera, and roses. He was a man who said of himself “I tried my best.” Private family services were held at Eternal Home Cemetery.
