Sandra Phillips Britt, age 48, beloved wife and daughter, a never smoker, lost her battle with lung cancer on Feb 11, 2007.
Sandy grew up in Southern California and graduated from San Diego State with a Bachelor’s degree in journalism. After a brief stint in the banking industry she found her true calling as a fundraiser in the Jewish Community. Working first for Israel Bonds as the Director of the Women’s Division and later as the Regional Director of the American Committee for Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem.
She loved travel and the arts and was devoted to her cat Max. Sandy cherished her friendships and family. She cared deeply about the Jewish people, women’s rights and correcting the gross inequity in lung cancer funding. She was a member of the Wexner Heritage Foundation.
Sandy loved her work as volunteer History Docent at the Oakland Museum of California. Sandy was formerly active with the Alameda Chamber of Commerce and the National Association of Fundraising Executives. She was a charter member of the Alameda Ladies Mahjong and Tea Society.
After her diagnosis she became a public voice for lung cancer patients, appearing in that capacity on CNN, KRON News, and on the pages of People Magazine, The San Francisco Chronicle, The Wall Street Journal, and other publications. She was a member of the California Steering Committee for the Joan’s Legacy and an advocate with the Lung Cancer Alliance.
Sandy is survived by her husband Michael and her mother Jeanette, and was predeceased by her brother Larry Phillips and her father Webster Phillips, both of lung cancer.
Cryptside services were to be held in Los Angeles Thursday, February 15th at Mt. Sinai Memorial Park. A Memorial Service will held at Temple Sinai (corner of Summit and 28th Street in Oakland) on Sunday, February 18th at 3:00 PM, followed by a Minyan at 5:00 PM.

Deborah J. Danziger on February 8, 2007 in Oakland at 57 years of age after a long courageous battle with cancer. A native of Marin County living in California all her life. A proud graduate of U.C. Berkeley, working with the “Office of the President” for the U.C. System. An avid gardener especially proud of her rose garden; she loved dolls and cats. She is co-owner of Heads Up Sports in Concord. Wife of Dennis Danziger for 27 years; sister of Steven (Janice) Walton-Hadlock and Richard Walton (Judy), daughter-in-law, sister-in-law and aunt.
Services were held graveside, Sunday, February 11th at 1 p.m. at Oakmont Memorial Park, 2099 Reliez Valley Rd., Lafayette. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to American Cancer Society.
Florence Glassman 1/28/20 – 2/8/07 Florence is survived by her son Lynne Glassman and wife Diana and her daughter Andria and longtime partner Rick Taylor. She joins her late sisters, Sarah Lewis and Marie LeFohn and her parents, David and Jenny Metz.
Florence came to S.F. in 1940. Her great fashion sense landed her a buying job at the OLD White House in accessories and millinery. Here she trained under Mikimoto Pearl Co. She was married for 29 yrs. to the late Abe Glassman, founder of the former Mister G’s and Elwoods fashion stores for which she bought for and managed the jewelry and accessories until Abe passed in 1971.
After her career with Abe’s business, Florence bought for and ran the gift shop at the J.H.A. for 15 years pro bono. She retired at 81 yrs. old.
Florence will always be remembered for her beauty, sharp wit, feistiness, humor, insight, great fashion sense and extreme loyalty to her friends and family. Florence also had a deep love for animals.
Services were held at the Home of Peace Cemetery Chapel in Colma.
Yetta Hyman, 93, passed away on January 26, 2007, at her home in Rossmoor, beloved wife of 63 years of the late Frank Hyman, mother of Michèle Stone (Harry Howe) and Steve Hyman (Ann Carr), grandmother of Adam (Eran) Stone and Erik (Erin) Stone and Dylan Hyman, and great-grandmother of Emma Stone. She is survived by her brother, Dr. Harold Furst (Alice), and pre-deceased by her brother, Dr. Arthur Furst. Yetta was a long-time volunteer and fundraiser for charitable organizations such as National Council of Jewish Women, Hadassah, ORT, and George Mark Children’s House. Yetta will be remembered for her enthusiasm and vitality, her sense of style and love of people. Evie Abend Krasow, a native of San Francisco and in this city on February 9, 2007. Dearly beloved wife of 60 years of William Krasow; loving mother of Michael and his wife Dyanne Krasow; idolized grandmother of Daniel, Erin and Barry Krasow; beloved sister of Fannie Rothman and the late Maurie Abend and loving daughter of the late Nathan and Pauline Abend. Evie is also survived by her many nieces, nephews, her many close friends and the loving caretakers at the Central Gardens Facility in San Francisco.
Services were held in the Eternal Home Cemetery Chapel, 1051 El Camino Real in Colma with internment following. Donations in her memory may be sent to Congregation Beth Israel Judea, 625 Brotherhood Way, SF, CA 94132.
Kreisberg, Luisa, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2007 in Berkeley, CA. Beloved wife of the late Barrett Kreisberg, loving mother of Joel and the late Seth, dear mother-in-law of Irma González and Jennifer Cobb, doting grandmother of Daniel, Gabriel and Rebecca González-Kreisberg, and Jeremiah and Samuel Kreisberg; precious sister of Marcia Forbes and Paulina Stark.
