Developers, however, said the preservationists were crying wolf.
“All the historic buildings, including Stern House, in Mamilla are being taken apart so they can be moved and then rebuilt,” said Haim Albaldes, director of the Mamilla Development Project.
Albaldes said the historic buildings would be rebuilt within the commercial area and promenade that is now under construction in the upper section of Mamilla.
