John Demjanjuk’s trial on charges of being an accessory to the murder of thousands at a Nazi death camp will begin Nov. 30, his lawyer said this week.

The Munich state court has set aside 35 trial days through to early May 2010 to hear Demjanjuk’s case, his German lawyer Guenther Maull said.

Demjanjuk, 89, arrived in Germany in May after losing a lengthy court battle to avoid deportation from the United States. The retired Ohio auto worker was charged in July with being an accessory to the murder of 27,900 people at the Sobibor death camp in Nazi-occupied Poland, where prosecutors allege he served as a guard. — ap & jpost.com
