Chanukah candles have become more elaborate in recent years, coming in all kinds of new colored patterns and designs.

In addition to white or colored candle sets, there are now candles with crystals, stripes, textures and even plaids. The Jewish Museum in New York sells about a dozen varieties of candles.

Candles to choose from this year include: ivory beeswax candles, make-your-own candles, graduated multi-colored candles, multi-color metallic candles and blue-frosted candles. The ivory beeswax candles, made in Israel by Kassel Candles, feature a honeycomb pattern. Kassel also offers a make-your-own kit that comes with red, blue, yellow and green beeswax sheets to roll around wicks. — ap
