Ready to change up the traditional Christmas Day family ritual of Chinese food and a movie? The Contemporary Jewish Museum will be open Dec. 25 on Free Target Family Day with special activities planned.

The admission-free day, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., will include a visit from costumed “Where the Wild Things Are” monsters and screenings of Maurice Sendak’s films and cartoons in conjunction with the exhibit “There’s a Mystery There: Sendak on Sendak.”

There also will be arts and crafts projects, such as making shadow puppets and decorating canvas bags. For more information, visit www.thecjm.org.
