After the garden party ends, young adults can continue celebrating Israel at a SoMa nightclub — Vegas-style.

Organizers of Tzavta, the young adult club of the Israel Center, are showing their appreciation to members and to the Jewish young adult community with their Israel in the Gardens after-party.

Manor West, located on Harrison Street in San Francisco’s SoMa neighborhood, will be the place to be from 5 to 10 p.m. on June 6. Festivities, for guests 21 and older, will begin after the last act exits the stage at Yerba Buena Gardens.

“Every year, we try to reinvent ourselves and add a different spice to it,” said Liron Biton, the S.F.-based Israel Center’s campus division emissary. “Everything is different, from the theme to the venue.”

Young adult chapters of several Jewish organizations — Birthright Israel Next, AIPAC and the Hub at the JCC of San Francisco, to name a few — will have designated places for their members to get together after the day ends.

“We want to offer that exclusive feeling for members to have their own spot to eat, mingle and hit the dance floor,” Biton said. “It’s going to feel like a Vegas club.”

But not entirely. Partiers will snack on traditional Israeli foods, including falafel and hummus, as well as untraditional — such as blue Jell-O shots (a nod to Israel’s colors).

Charged with boosting energy on the dance floor, volunteers will snake through the crowd, handing out shots and Hawaiian leis (blue and white, of course). They might get people in the mood by kicking off a round of the hora or encouraging guests to shake it with belly dancers.

A mix of Israeli and American music will rock the club, as DJ Mei-Lwun spins dance beats. A henna artist will do intricate (temporary) designs.

“We didn’t do a lot of parties during the year,” Biton said. “We mostly worked on events with content about Israel. This one is just to end the year saying thank you.”

Admission is $10 and includes refreshments. No cost for donors to the S.F.-based Jewish Community Federation.
