The annual East Bay Jewish Forum lecture series is returning to Oakland’s Temple Beth Abraham this fall and winter. Held Thursday mornings Oct. 7 through March 17, the series features a lineup of speakers addressing a broad range of Jewish topics.
Sponsored by the Jewish Federation of the East Bay and the Center for Jewish Living and Learning, the forum will include presentations from such speakers as Rabbi Mark Bloom, singer Mark Levy, AIPAC representative Emily Blanck and Lehrhaus Judaica educator Jehon Grist.
Topics include a survey of Turkish history from the Ottomans to the present day, depiction of gays and lesbians in Israeli cinema, klezmer music, the Jews of China, Kabbalah and the legacy of Anne Frank.
The series kicks off Oct. 7 with “Middle East Update,” a talk with Deputy Consul General Gideon Lustig of the Consulate General of Israel.
A “season pass” to the series costs $136, while individual lectures cost $10. To purchase tickets or to obtain more information, call (510) 318-6453.
