Twelve U.S. Jewish day schools, 11 of them affiliated with Chabad, finished in the top 20 of a competition on Facebook and each will receive $500,000.
More than 1.8 million people voted in the contest, according to the Kohl’s Cares Facebook page. The entrants had to present a non-religious feature of their programming for the funding.
The Jewish day schools finishing in the top 10 were the Hebrew Academy of Huntington Beach, Calif.; Cheder Menachem and the Bais Chaya Mushka School, both of Los Angeles; and Yeshiva Achei Tmimim Academy of Worcester, Mass.
Lake High School of Millbury, Ohio, finished first with 163,395 votes. — jta
