Burke’s is an independent K-8 school for girls located on a beautiful 3.5-acre campus in San Francisco. We have been educating young women since 1908 and are committed to the highest standards of educational excellence.

Burke’s mission is to educate, encourage and empower girls through a deeply engaging and challenging program that inspires each student to excel both in and out of the classroom. In addition to the core academic studies, we offer strong programs in art, music, physical education and athletics, service learning, drama, public speaking and a range of electives for our middle school students. We nurture curious, critical thinkers who are confident in their ideas and their ability to express them.

Our unique campus contributes to a vibrant academic climate and welcoming atmosphere. We are an inclusive and diverse community with an experienced, accomplished faculty who take advantage of our outdoor setting and wide-open spaces to foster learning and resiliency. Step onto our campus and you will see active healthy girls!

Our goal is to develop an early love of learning. Our program reflects a deep respect for childhood, emphasizing play and exploration at the outset and becoming increasingly and appropriately more demanding over time as our students mature.

Burke’s students thrive at every stage of their educational development and our graduates attend the leading independent, boarding, public and parochial high schools.

We welcome your interest in Burke’s and hope that you will visit our website at www.kdbs.org and our campus! We offer admission tours from Oct. 21 through Dec. 9, 2010, and they can be scheduled by calling (415) 751-0177.
