ACADEMICS: JCHS continues its proud tradition of offering an exceptional academic program. JCHS is the premier San Francisco high school braiding together humanities/arts, Jewish studies/Hebrew and math/
science. The average class size at JCHS is 14 and we boast a 6:1 student-to-teacher ratio.
TECHNOLOGY: The JCHS laptop computer program was launched in August 2010 to support and deepen learning at JCHS. JCHS students engage with others and with ideas through technology enabling them to research, reflect, and collaborate in powerful ways.
PERFORMING ARTS: The JCHS Drama Department has been selected to perform at the 2011 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the world’s largest and most prestigious arts festival. This fall, our performance of “The Sound of Music” is Nov. 16-18 and Sunday, Nov. 21.
ATHLETICS: The soccer, volleyball, and Ultimate Frisbee teams are off to a great start! The interscholastic athletic program provides the opportunity for athletes of all levels to build a strong set of values including cooperation, sportsmanship, self-confidence, dedication and discipline.
COLLEGE ADVISING: Through extensive one-on-one counseling, the adviser is a guide throughout the entire process, working as a partner with students and families through initial research, standardized testing, application essay writing, financial aid and final decision-making. Our graduates are accepted at a variety of universities including MIT, Stanford, Princeton, Columbia, Brown, U.C. Berkeley and Johns Hopkins.
JOURNEYS: A four-year sequence of experiential Journeys explores issues of power, responsibility and identity at destinations such as Bryce Canyon National Park, New Orleans and Israel. This unique program enhances education through real-world experience.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH: To foster learning through service, JCHS students actively engage in social justice committees, service projects and individual activism. JCHS students make special connections to people in our local community through our service program.
