Information sessions for Shalhevet, an educational excursion to Poland and Israel next spring for Jewish 11th- and 12th-graders, will happen throughout the Bay Area in December. The trip takes place April 3 to 17, 2011.

Meetings will be held at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 5 and 7:30 p.m. Dec. 14 in Berkeley, and at 3 p.m. Dec. 5 in Sunnyvale.

Similar to March of the Living, Shalhevet teens will travel to Poland for a week, touring concentration camps and sites of Polish Jewry’s former glory, and then will fly to Israel for a second week of learning and fun.

Shalhevet, the Hebrew term for “flame,” signifies a flame of remembrance passed on to a new generation.
